The mixed-voiced vocal-instrumental chamber ensemble Ludus Musicus has been pursuing serious music for many years. It is located at Dobřichovice close to Prague. This is a private ensemble where experienced musicians as well as young students from various music schools are effective. It invites to cooperation at festive ocassions singers and instrumentalists from the best Czech ensembles. It aims at the medieval, renaissance and baroque music, as well as at music of modern authors.
In effort to approach the authentic sound of historic music, the ensemble uses copies of period music instruments, such as antique kithar, lyre, medieval psaltery, lutes, tramba marina, cow’s horns, little dulcimer or baroque guitar, oboe, flute, gamba, violone etc.
In addition to well known works, the repertoire includes also rarely presented opuses related to liturgical cycle as well to secular year.
When creating the repertoire it is utilized various authentic sources and taken advantages of our collaboration with many specialists in certain historical topics.
The ensemble regularly acts during liturgical ceremonies, appears as guest of musical festivals and at concert platforms throughout the Czech and undertakes several foreign travels.
